Alec Easterman, British Jewish leader, has flown to Luneburg in Germany to attend the forthcoming trial of Joseph Kramer, Nazi commandent of the Bergen-Belsen camp, who is to be tried as a war criminal, it was announced today by the World Jewish Congress. Easterman was provided with transportation by military authorities.
The Congress also announced that it has received an invitation from the central committee of Jewish refugees in Germany to send a delegate to the first conference of Jewish displaced persons, which is to be held in Bergen-Belsen on Sept. 25.
The invitation revealed that the meeting will map plans “to erect a monument to the thousands of Jews who have died since their liberation,” and will discuss the refugees’ present problems and their hopes and plans for the future.
