A discovery that may prove to be the clue to the basic cause of cancer was announced here by a Jewish scientist, Prof. Felix Sebba, professor of physical chemistry and dean of the faculty of science at the Witwatersrand University. The theory implicates the substance cholesterol, which is present in all living cells, and the conditions under which overproduction of cholesterol causes cell division and loss of cohesion with surrounding cells. A paper on his findings is to be published by the Journal of Colloid Science.
