The National Conference of Jewish Social Service was opened here at Temple Emanuel yesterday morning, meeting as a section of the general Social Workers’ Conference in session here. Judge M. C. Sloss of San Francisco welcomed the delegates. Dr. Samuel C. Kohs of Brooklyn reported on the Atlantic City convention of Jewish Social Workers.
William J. Shroder, of Cincinnati, urged that the workers use the National Appeals Information Service in their work.
At a luncheon at Emanuel Temple House. Solomon Lowenstein and Dr. Samuel A. Goldsmith spoke. Dr. Goldsmith compared San Francisco’s and New York’s problems. Dr. Boris D. Bogen emphasized in his address experimentalization in social work.
The second session separated into four groups discussing sectional problems and seeking to evolve new technique.
In the evening the delegates attended the National Social Workers’ meeting and were addressed by Porter Lee, national president.
