The Jewish War Veterans of the United States yesterday presented its medal of merit to Dr. Abba Hillel Silver at a meeting held at the Concourse Plaza Hotel. The award was given to the Zionist leader for “distinguished leadership in mobilizing the moral and material resources of world Jewry in the struggle to establish and secure in the free state of Israel a new life and a new hope for oppressed and persecuted Jews.”
