American schools may be partially and indirectly responsible for the recent rash of teen-age anti-Semitic acts because of failure to teach more about “crimes of Hitler era,” says a resolution adopted here today by the national executive boards of Aleph Zadik Aleph and B’nai B’rith Girls–teen-age boys and girls divisions of the B’nai B’rith youth organization. The B’nai B’rith-sponsored youth movement has some 38, 000 members throughout the United States and Canada.
The resolution, adopted at the close of a three-day meeting, called on school authorities “to hold up a mirror to our educational system to determine what efforts are being made to teach youth about the evils of totalitarianism and intolerance.”The resolution urges flatly that the “history of the Hitler era should be taught in schools.”
