Jews Fight Back Assailants

April 6, 1923
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

A gathering convened to protest against the execution by the Soviet of the Russian Vicar General developed rapidly into an anti-Semitic rally instead.

Following inflammatory speeches against the Jews, the students marched through Leszno Street shouting “Death to the murderers of Budkiewitch”. Many of the Jews who were seized and attacked on the line of march fought back against their assailants. Two Jews were wounded.

Reports from other parts of the country indicate the execution of the Vicar General occasioned anti-Jewish agitation throughout Poland.
