Jews fleeing persecution in Eastern Europe and arriving in the U.S. zone of Germany will receive housing priority over displaced persons who refuse to return to their country of origin, it was announced today by the DP section of Third Army headquarters.
The Third Army, which is in charge of DP lodgings, said that it might prove necessary to provide poor temporary quarters for new arrivals because it is impossible to forecast the number that will arrive. An army spokesman said, however, that between 3,500 and 4,000 are coming weekly.
