The United Israel Appeal was launched here today for Mexico with the declared aim of “furnishing the needed material means for the financing of the extraordinary immigration of Rumanian Jews into Israel.”
The campaign is being conducted under the auspices of the Keren Hayesod, fund-raising arm of the Zionist organization. Gregorio Shapiro, chairman of the Mexican Jewish Congress, and former president of the Jewish Central Committee of Mexico, was chosen chairman of this year’s drive.
