A Jewish delegation headed by Dr. William Filderman, president of the Federation of Jewish Communities, today visited General Sergei Vinogradov, chief of the Russian Armistice Commission in Rumania, and submitted to him a memorandum containing the following requests:
1. That 9,000 Rumanian Jews who are still in Transnistria, to where they were deported by the Germans, be repatriated by the Soviet authorities to their home towns in Rumania.
2. That Jews who were sent by the Germans from Transylvania for forced labor on the German-Russian front and who were taken prisoner by the Russians should be released from Russian internment and returned to their homes.
3. That the Hungarian and German Jews now residing in Rumania be helped by the Armistice Commission to secure restoration of their confiscated property, as is being done for Jews in the countries liberated from the Germans.
The Federation of Jewish Communities in Rumania decided to send a delegation to Budapest, as soon as the city is liberated, for the purpose of setting up relief facilities for the needy Jews. Another delegation will proceed to other liberated parts of Hungary, it was announced here today.
