Establishment of an ORT committee in Spain was announced today by the World ORT Union. The committee, to be headed by Dr. S. Danon, a leader of Spain’s Jewish community of 3,000, was set up by following the recent visit of Mme. Haskin of the World ORT Union.
In past years, Spain’s Jews have had little opportunity to work with world Jewish organizations and establishment of the ORT group was interpreted here as indicating some liberalization of the Spanish regime’s policy towards its Jewish minority.
