Jody Powell, President Carter’s Press Secretary, said last week that the President did not tell Israel’s Ashkenazic Chief Rabbi, Shlomo Goren last Wednesday, “anything the President has not already said publicly.” Powell gave his response when he was asked to comment on Rabbi Goren’s version of the Goren conversation with the President.
