A bequest of 1000 gold pounds was left to the Palestine Foundation Fund by Haim Herzenstein who died yesterday at the age of eighty-five.
For years, Herzenstein lived as a recluse in many parts of South Africa.
Several years ago he made a gift of five thousand pounds to the Johannesburg synagogue, fifteen hundred pounds to a Talmudical College, as well as gifts to local charities.
