Some 200 Samaritans in Nablus, Palestine–a people who represent a living link with the Bible, but who are now faced with starvation and possible extinction as an aftermath of the recent Palestine conflict–will receive emergency aid from the Joint Distribution Committee, Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the J. D. C., announced today.
Following an urgent plea for help in behalf of the Samaritans, the J. D. C. voted an emergency appropriation of $1,200 monthly to feed and assist the group, he revealed. The J. D. C. was advised that other relief agencies in the Nablus region, which is Arab-held, had rejected pleas of help from the Samaritans, on the grounds that they were not war refugees.
