JOSEPH HOLLZER, BROTHER OF FEDERAL JUDGE HARRY HOLLZER OF LOS ANGELES, WAS TODAY ELECTED CHAIRMAN OF AN EMERGENCY COMMITTEE NAMED BY THE SHANGHAI JEWISH COMMUNITY TO RELIEVE DISTRESS CAUSED BY THE WAR. COMMUNITY LEADERS RECENTLY ISSUED AN APPEAL TO WORLD JEWRY, DECLARING ALL FUNDS HAD BEEN EXHAUSTED AND THAT SHANGHAI’S 5,000 JEWS FACED A WINTER OF STARVATION.
