Judge Jonah J. Goldstein is Dead at Age of 81

Judge Jonah J. Goldstein, for many decades a prominent figure in the New York Jewish community and president of the Grand Street Boys Association, died Saturday in Bethlehem, N.H., following a heart attack. He was 81 years old. He had retired from the General Sessions bench 11 years ago.

A native of Canada, he was brought to New York City at the age of six and was raised on the lower East Side. He was active in many New York welfare activities and served on the board of many Jewish institutions. He was an unsuccessful candidate for the mayoralty in 1945.
