Associate Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas told 2,000 delegates and guests at the Women’s American Oct 19th biennial convention here that no government or organization had the right to ask Israel to compromise its integrity. He asserted that no one “has the right to demand or expect that Israel should accept political humiliation or any settlement which invites renewed attacks upon her — or that Israel should admit, however indirectly, the legitimacy of efforts to destroy her.”
The jurist expressed the belief that “within the framework of basic principle and fundamental need and justice, I am sure that all of us similarly hope for a resolution that will bring peace and progress to the people of the Arab nations. They, like the people of Israel, are entitled to no less.”
