Shechita, Jewish ritual method of slaughtering, was today outlawed by the municipal council of Kattowice, in Polish Silesia.

At the same time, the Mayor of the large industrial city of Lodz, which is heavily populated by Jews, ruled out of order a proposal to ban shechita.
