Ken. W. Clawson, formerly a news writer in Ohio, Michigan and for the Washington Post, has been promoted by President Nixon from deputy director of communications for the Executive branch to communications director to the President. In this capacity, Clawson, 37, who is Jewish, now manages the office formerly headed by Herbert G. Klein, who left it last summer to become broadcasting administrator. Klein, who is not Jewish, arranged the meeting at the White House in April, 1972 of American Jewish newspaper editors.
