King Assures Vatican on Racial Marriage Laws

King Victor Emmanuel today assured Pope Pius XI that Fascist Italy will take into account the rights of the Catholic Church in connection with the marriage law. This step was taken in reply to a letter sent to the King by the Pope in protest against the Government’s new marriage laws aimed at making Italy completely “Aryan.” A personal letter also was sent to Premier Benito Mussolini by the Pontiff. No reply has yet been announced.
