A chair for Judaica in the University of Kovno will be established shortly, according to Professor Birsischka, dean of the University, in an interview with press representatives.

Dr. Simon Dubnow, famous Russian Jewish historian, will be invited to occupy the chair. The initiative for the creation of the chair must come from the Sejm, the dean stated.

The relations between the Jews and Lithuanians have improved, he added.

Preference to the Yiddish school system over the Hebrew schools in Lithuania is being given by the present minister of education, a Socialist, according to the “Yiddishe Stimme.”

The newspaper complains that the minister has refused to recognize the Hebrew high schools in Lithuania as government schools, while the only Yiddish high school was given state rights.
