Lag Ba’ Omer festivities got underway at noon here today with the traditional procession to the graveside of Rabbi Shimon Bar-Yohai in nearby Meron, the center of countrywide observances of the festive holiday. Thousands of pilgrims from all parts of the country began crowding into this city early this morning. They arrived by buses and cars, trucks and even horse-drawn carts from nearby villages.
