The first of 200,000 copies of The Voice, newspaper of the Committee of Catholics to Fight Anti-Semitism, was presented to Mayor LaGuardia at the World’s Fair City Hall today by Gene Tunney, retired heavyweight boxing champion and member of the committee. Mr. Tunney termed anti-Semitism “a flame out of hell” whose “unholy and devastating powers apparently were conceived in hell.”
Distribution of the paper in the metropolitan area began immediately. The eight-page tabloid features in its first issue an article under the banner headline: “Bishops Condemn Anti-Semitism.” The paper also contains condemnations of race hatred by many individual Catholics.
