Describing Jewish achievements in Palestine as “a beacon light symbol of the efforts of intelligent, civilized people, both Jewish and Gentile, to rise above the present cycle of hatred though which the world is passing,’ Mayor Fiorfello H. LaGuardia today accepted membership on a committee sponsoring an annual publication dealing with Jewish life in Palestine.
The Mayor further asserted that “civilization must and will thwart the effect of any nation determined to destroy this great people.”
