Last Minute News Trusteeship Body to Recommend Sending of U.N. Representative to Jerusalem Immediate

The U.N. Trusteeship Council was tonight ##ing on the draft of its first report to the General Assembly. The essence of its commendations, based on a five-point summation by U.S. delegate Benjamin Gerig, was ### a special United Nations representative be sent promptly to Jerusalem to observe carrying out of cease fire order for the Old City Jerusalem.

The U.N. representative would also cooperate with the Consular Truce Commission to expand the local cease firs order to cover the entire city. He would also coordinate the continuity of public services as the British withdraw, and would the power to act under a temporary trusteeship agreement.

Jewish Agency representative Moshe Snertok told the Council that unless the ###ce limits were extended to embrace the city’s approaches it could happen that ##re would be an effective truce within the city limits while the Jewish population was ##rving for lack of foot and water both of which have to be brought in from the outside. He warned that unless the Arab lift their roadblocks the Haganah would be ##ced to attack again and clear the convoy routs.

Contents of a cable from the Consular Truce Commission to the Security Council and Withheld from publication by the Council were said by informed quarters here ### include the terms under which the Jewish Agency had agreed to a truce in Palestine, ## which the Arab Higher Committee had rejected. The Agency said it would accept a ##ce if immigration is not restricted, if all foreign invaders are withdraw from Palestine and if the Jews are guaranteed free access to Jerusalem.
