Israel Sunday night formally expressed its “disappointment and concern” at the meeting earlier in the day between PLO chief Yasir Arafat and French Foreign Minister Claude Cheysson in Beirut. A Foreign Ministry statement said the meeting, “just one day after the murderous attack in Vienna,” would “encourage extremist violence” and was a blow to the peace process.
