Judah Elfenbein-Tillinger, the unfrocked rabbi who confessed before a Rabbinical court in New York in February that he was unworthy of holding a rabbinical office, has entered suit against Dr. Mendel Silber, rabbi, and editor of the “Jewish Ledger” here, for the publication in the Ledger of an account accusing Tillinger of consorting under false pretense with a Christian Minister.
Tillinger’s suit against Dr. Silber is in abeyance, however, as the lawyer whom the unfrocked rabbi retained as counsel refused to handle the case any further after a conference with Dr. Silber.
It is understood that Tillinger has left for New York to enter suit against the Literary Digest for an accounting of his career published in March. Mr. Davison, a New York attorney, is said to have been retained by him as counsel for his suit against the Digest.
