Leading Republican presidential candidate George W. Bush said he hopes a peace deal between Israel and Syria would not require a U.S. troop presence on the Golan Heights. Bush, appearing on the CNN program “Evans, Novak, Hunt & Shields,” also said he was “sympathetic” to a $17 billion aid request from Israel to support such a deal.
