Instructions forbidding incitement against the Jews of the Saar region have been issued to teachers and pupils in the Saar valley to guide them in relations with Jewish pupils in the schools, a new report of the League of Nations Saar Commission on Nazi interference in Saar affairs revealed today.
The commission recently announced that it had indisputable proof that 16,000 young Saarlanders are being given military training in German camps for possible action during the plebiscite of January 16, when inhabitants of the area will vote whether to return to Germany, become a part of France, or continue under League rule.
In its report to the League, the commission emphasized the gravity of conditions in the Saar and asked the League for permission to recruit a force of 2,000 police outside the region, declaring that the present force is undependable and under the influence of Nazi secret police.
Approximately 10,000 Jews live in the Saar and are entitled to vote in the plebiscite. Most of the Saar inhabitants are Catholics. Nazi propagandists have been making every effort to win votes for Germany. In his recent speech in Coblenz, Reichsfuehrer Hitler announced that Germany never will abandon the Saar.
