Mrs. Leah H. Davis, organizer and national president of the Gold Star Mothers of America, is dead here at the age of 50 as the result of a heart attack. She was the mother of one of the Jewish heroes of the World War, the late Victor H. Davis, a private in the 363rd infantry. Mrs. Davis devoted much of her time to aiding in the passage of legislation which made possible the recent pilgrimage to France of Gold Star mothers. She herself was unable to go because of illness.
Long active in uniting the various chapters of Gold Star mothers, she was named president of the national organization in 1929. She was also interested in legislation in Congress providing more assistance for dependent war mothers.
