Leon Schwartz, member of the City Commission took his post as mayor of the city and president of the commission following his election in the annuel reorganization.

Mayor Schwartz succeeds Harry T. Harrwell as the city’s chief executive. He was nominated for mayor by Commissioner Cecil F. Bates. Under the organization policy of the city commission the office of mayor rotates annually among the three commissioners.

A joint Thanks shring celebration was held yesterday at the Synagogue of Congregation Beth Jacob B’nai Berale Chicago. The celebration was arranged under the auspices of Congregations Beth Jacob B’nai Bezalel Or Chodosh. Rodfel Zedek and the South Side Hebrew Congregation Rabbis Benjamin A. Daskal, Abraham Horvitz. Joseph Margolies and Morris Teller participated in the services.
