A bill amending the immigration law and abolishing the quota system is being drafted for presentation to Congress by the Liberal Immigration League, according to an announcement by Maurice B. Rlumenthal, Chairman of the organization. The league was organized several years ago.
The Liberal Immigration League proposes the following legislation.
“Immigrants from Europe should be admitted without regard to numbers and independent of our immigrant population.
“Before being permitted to embark the intending immigrant should be certified in his native country by an American board functioning there as to his moral, mental and social fitness.
“If certified, then upon his arrival here the immigrant should be assigned to reside for a prescribed reasonable time in such section of the country as a board functioning here shall prescribe, with due regard for the convenience and benefit of the immigrant and the requirements and economic advantage of the nation.
“Compulsory attendance weekly for two years at an Americanization school to be conducted under governmental supervision.
“Amenability to reasonable deportation laws providing in substance for deportation of any immigrant judicially declared morally undesirable for continued residence or citizenship.”
