Lists of liberated Jews in German camps or formerly occupied territory will be made available to relief organizations by Allied headquarters in Paris, the World Jewish Congress has been informed by the Civil Affairs Division of the War Department, it was disclosed today by Kurt Grossman, head of the orgenization’s rescue department.
The Wer Department also said that every liberated person will receive two post cards which he will be allowed to send to a relative, friend, or any other address chosen by him. These post cards will be sent through the army postal service. As yet, there has been no decision on the status of stateless and German Jews. However, a tracing bureau to find missing persons was organized in Brussels, Bucharest, Geneva, London, Paris, and Stockholm by Dr. A. Leon Kubowitzki while abroad recently on a mission for the congress.
Meanwhile, the congress, in cooperation with the women’s division of the American Jewish Congress and on the advice of the War Department, will send 30,000 pounds of clothing to Bergen Belsen to alleviate the pressing needs of the surviving fews who were found at that camp.
