President Smetona has tendered his apology to Rabbi Katz of Palangon, whose hat was snatched from his head by the chief of police of Palengon, when the Rabbi came to welcome the President on the latter’s visit to the town. The Rabbi had refused to remove his hat on religious grounds.

The “Lietuvas,” official organ of the Roumanian Government, publishes the apology of the President.
