Lord Reading will shortly retire from the chairmanship of the board of the “Daily Chronicle” with which he became associated when he returned to England from India in 1920 at the end of his term as Viceroy. An official announcement issued last night says that Mr. William Harrison on behalf of the Inveresk group has purchased the controlling interests in the “Daily Chromcle Investment Corporation. Ltd. which controls the “Daily Chronicle.” the “Sunday News.” and the “Doncaster Gazette.” It is a term of the agreement for sale that these newspapers shall pursue the same policy as heretofore and shall continue their support of the principles and programme of the Liberal Party.
