Lord Swaythling, Outstanding Leader of Anglo-jewry, Dies

Lord Swaythling, Louis Samuel Montagu, one of the outstanding leaders of Anglo-Jewry and President of the Federation of Synagogues and Initiation Society, died Friday night at the age of 58, following a brief illness.

Lord Swaythling was a strictly observant Orthodox Jew. Kashruth, the Mosaic dietary laws, were strictly observed in his home. His son, Stuart Yacht Club and many other organizations.

Louis Samuel Montagu was horn December 10, 1869. He was the eldest son of the first Baron Swaythling, Samuel Montagu, and Ellen (Cohen). In 1898 he married Gladys Helen Rachel, the daughter of the late Col. A. E. Goldsmid.

Lord Swaythling was the head of the banking firm of Samuel Montagu amp; Company of London. He belonged to the Reform Club, the Royal Southern Yacht Club and many organizations.
