Mahmoud Abbas resigned from the Fatah movement’s top decision-making body. In a letter to Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, Abbas also threatened to quit as P.A. prime minister. Officials of Fatah, the main component of the PLO, refused to accept Abbas’ resignation from the movement’s Central Committee.
