Although Brooklyn has a larger Jewish population than Manhattan and the Bronx combined, only ten per cent of money contributed by the Jews of Greater New York comes t Brooklyn, Supreme Court Justice Mitchell Many declared last night in an appeal for aid for needy Brooklyn Jews. Judge May is president of the Brooklyn Federation of Jewish Charities.
His statement was issued in connection with the twenty-fifth anniversary drive for $500,000, now being conducted by the Federation. Country Judge Algeron I. Nova is chairman of the campaign.
“The campaign has been marked by a considerable number of generous contributions by Manhattan philanthropists,” said Justice May, “and we are very grateful for this aid. The logic of the situation should result in support of our philanthropic work without regard to county or borough lines.”
