The Manitoba Provincial Government will introduce a fair employment practices act during the current session of the State Legislature, according to the Speech from the Throne read by the Lieutenant-Governor at the opening of the spring session. Details of the proposed legislation were not immediately available in government circles.

A statement by the Canadian Jewish Congress Western Region welcoming the announcement pointed out that with the amendment to the Real Property Act adopted three years ago, outlawing restrictive covenants, the new legislation would establish a “legislative pattern designed to give practical legal safeguards against discrimination.”
