Dame Sybil Thorndike, Hendrik Willem Van Loon and Raymond Moley are included in the list of speakers, ranging from experts in the theatrical field to exponents of psychology and educational problems, announced yesterday by the lecture group of the women’s division of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies for its 1934-35 series of ten lectures on “Contemporary Thought.”
The lectures, scheduled for Friday mornings at the Hotel Savoy-Plaza, will begin November 16 and extend through the middle of February.
The entire proceeds of this series will be donated to the women’s division of the Federation. The arrangements committee includes Mrs. Harry A. Goldberg, Mrs. Ira Haupt, Mrs. Alfred Hagedorn and Mrs. A. L. Lowenstein.
Dame Sybil and Mrs. Floyd Odlum will lead off, the former speaking on “Free Trade in Art” and the latter taking “Quality Fashion” for her topic. Van Loon will appear the following Friday, with “An Historian Looks at the Future” as his subject. The remainder of the slate follows:
