Marina Tiemkin, a 13-year-old girl forcibly separated from her father, Alexander Tiemkin several weeks ago, has been found in a Soviet youth pioneer camp in southern Russia where she is reportedly under going “intensive indoctrination,” it was learned today from various groups in contact with Jewish sources in the Soviet Union. The sources said Alexander Tiemkin was permitted to visit his daughter for two hours recently and then ousted from the camp.
The father and daughter applied for exit visas to emigrate to Israel. The girl was denied a visa when her mother, who is divorced from Tiemkin, refused to grant her permission to leave the country. Soviet rules require such permission from a parent or guardian, even in the case of adults. Tiemkin refused to depart without the girl and was subsequently charged with “insulting the militia.” He is presently awaiting trial in Moscow.
