Markets Department Lists Bargains in Food

Sea bass, mackerel, butterfish and flounders are bargains this week for thrifty housewives, according to yesterday’s report of the City Consumers’ Food Guide of the Department of Markets. Heavy catches of bluefish also have lowered the market price on that commodity.

Frances Foley Gannon, director of the Food Guide, warns that now is the time to do canning, for peaches are not likely to go lower or be better in quality this year.
