May 2, 1961
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

May Day was celebrated here and throughout Israel today. Many plants and offices were closed, as employes took the day off for parades and political demonstrations. There were no newspapers published.

No incidents were reported in any of the May Day observances held in various parts of the country by the different workers’ factions. In Haifa, two separate gatherings were organized–one by the Histadrut, which was addressed by Mayor Abba Khoushy and a second organized by Mapam. Three rallies were held in Nazareth where the Histadrut, Mapam and the Communists celebrated separately.
