William Fox, 41, lieutenant of Joseph E. McWilliams, self-styled anti-Jewish candidate for the Republican Congressional nomination in the 18th Congressional District, today was sentenced to four months in the workhouse by Magistrate Edgar Bromberger for assaulting Jack Schwartz, 39, when he attempted to serve a summons for disorderly conduct on McWilliams at a street meeting on Aug. 7.
Fox had previously been remanded to Bellevue Hospital for psychiatric investigation. Found sane, he was returned for sentence in Harlem Court. His record showed three previous convictions on similar charges, one of them for beating his wife in 1935.
