After a hearing of nearly two hours at Bellevue Hospital, Supreme Court Justice Lloyd Church ordered today that Joseph E. McWilliams anti-Semitic agitator, complete his 10 day commitment to the psychopathic ward for observation. McWilliams had obtained an order against the city to show cause why he should not be released.

Convicted on his second disorderly conduct charge for using abusive and offensive language against the Jews, McWilliams was committed to Bellevue by Magistrate Edgar Bromberger as a preliminary to being sentenced. “I think that Magistrate Bromberger clearly found McWilliams apparently insane “Justice Church said today in denying permits for the anti-Semite’s release. “This is not sane or insane, but apparently insane.”
