Braving the snow storm yesterday, a crowd estimated in excess of 10,000 Jewish working men surrounded the Forward building, 175 East Broadway, Sunday to participate in the funeral of and pay tribute to Vladimir Medem, the Bundist leader who died last Tuesday.
Representatives of the large international unions and other workers’ organizations joined in the tribute, the floral wreaths from many who did not gain enrance to the hall testifying to the popularity of the deceased.
The principal speeches were delivered by Ab Kahn, Editor of the “Forward”, Hillel Rogoff on behalf of the Forward staff, Dr. Gurewitz, representing the “Bund”, Max Pine, the Hebrew Trade Unions, J. Baskin, of the Workmen’s Circle, B. Zukerman of the People’s Relief, Judge J. Pankin and others, B. Vladek, an intimate friend of the deceased introduced the speakers and paid final tribute to the deceased at the grave.
