Melbourne Jews Start to Build Synagogue

The cornerstone of a new synagogue to be erected here at a cost of $200,000, was laid today in the presence of an impressive gathering. Dr. Jones, president of the Hebrew Congregation, which is erecting the synagogue, presided at the exercises.

An appeal for the erection of a memorial to the Jewish soldiers who fell in the British army during the World War was made by Minister of Education for Victoria, H. Cohen.
