The first Australian Parliamentarian to visit Israel since the Six-Day War declared in a speech here that “it is quite clear that Israel will ensure that the Golan Heights, the Gulf of Akaba and Gaza will not be used against her again.” The speaker, a member of the Labor Party, E.G. Whitlam, addressed the first Joint Communal Appeal dinner which launched Sidney’s United Local Appeal drive. He and Mrs. Whitlam were the guests of honor.
