DISCRIMINATORY MEASURES AGAINST DANZIG JEWS ARE LISTED IN A NEW MEMORANDUM SUBMITTED TODAY TO THE LEAGUE OF NATIONS BY DR. STEPHEN S. WISE ON BEHALF OF THE WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS. LISTING FIVE MAJOR COMPLAINTS, DR. WISE DECLARES THE POSITION OF DANZIG JEWS HAS BECOME DESPERATE AND REVEALS THAT THE QUESTION OF AIDING THEM TO EMIGRATE IS BEING CONSIDERED. THOSE JEWS WHO REMAIN IN DANZIG, HOWEVER, MUST BE ASSURED OF AN ECONOMIC EXISTENCE, HE DECLARES.

HIS MEMORANDUM CITES THE FOLLOWING POINTS:

1–GAULEITER ALBERT FORSTER RECENTLY ATTACKED THE JEWISH POPULATION IN DANZIG AND CALLED FOR A BOYCOTT OF THE JEWS;

2–DR. ARTHUR GREISER, SENATE PRESIDENT, TOLD A JEWISH DELEGATION THAT DANZIG LIFE WOULD BE SYNCHRONIZED WITH GERMANY, EVEN IF THAT VIOLATES THE CONSTITUTION;

3–MANY ANTI-JEWISH REGULATIONS HAVE BEEN RECENTLY ENFORCED, SUCH AS JEWS’ BEING PROHIBITED FROM USE OF PUBLIC BATHS, JEWISH DOCTORS EXCLUDED FROM NIGHT SERVICES; JEWISH BUSINESSES OUSTED FROM CENTRAL STREETS BY APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE OWNERS OF BUSINESS PREMISES TO TERMINATE LEASES OF JEWISH MERCHANTS; OTHER JEWISH MERCHANTS FORCED TO SELL OUT AT LOW PRICES TO “ARYAN” COMPETITORS;

4–STRICT FINANCIAL MEASURES HAVE BEEN TAKEN AGAINST JEWS ON THE PRETEXT OF EXAMINATION OF THEIR ACCOUNTS;

5–THE DANZIG SENATE IS PREPARING A NEW LAW PROHIBITING EMPLOYMENT OF “NON-ARYAN” SHOP ASSISTANTS AND CLERKS.
