The Merchants Ladies Garment Association signed an agreement yesterday with the International Ladies Ga#ment Workers Union and thus averted a threatened strike which would have involved 12,000 people.
One other employers group must now agree to sign the contract which was drawn up through the mediation of Lieutenant Governor Herbert H. Lehman.
