arrived immigrants from Germany and also for the work of the Poel Hamizrachi, the orthodox labor group, and the Hechalutz, organization caring for settlers. The budget also calls for support and encouragement of middle-class enterprises in Palestine.
The financial report of Max Nadler, national treasurer of the organization, lists heavy contributions by the Mizrachi to the Keren Kayemeth, the Jewish National Fund. The complete report, however, will not be ready until January.
Discussion as to the nature of the relationship which the Mizrachi should have to the Zionist organization is taking up the attention of many of the delegates. While a strong number is in favor of the Mizrachi leaving the Zionist organization, it appeared today that those in favor of remaining within the Zionist body were preponderant.
There seemed little question of the re-election of Rabbi Wolf Gold as national president of the organization.
The convention opened Thursday evening in the presence of 275 delegates from all parts of the country and several hundred members of the Rochester Jewish community. Rabbi Gold was the principal speaker.
The Mizrachi Women’s Organization opens its convention Saturday evening. The group seeks to raise a large sum for the maintenance of the newly-opened technical school for girls at Jerusalem built by the American Mizrachi women. Mrs. Adele Goldstein, of Brooklyn, will deliver the principal address.
The Mizrachi Hazoir, youth group, will also meet in special sessions Saturday evening for the purpose of arranging for sending American orthodox youths to Palestine as settlers.
A mass meeting arranged by the local Jewish community, at which Mizrachi leaders spoke, was held this evening.
